Our Covenant & Tenets

Sovereignty of Man — Divinity of Nature

Meaning of Our Name

Veritas Maiestas Terrae

Church of Veritas Maiestas Terrae (Covmt) translates from the Latin as the Church of the Truth and Majesty of the Earth. Our fellowship gathers in recognition that the natural world is a primary revelation of sacred order, and that every human being possesses an inviolable inward conscience.

Established in Unincorporated Harstine Island, Mason County, Washington, our sanctuary honors the quiet majesty of the Pacific Northwest forests and Salish Sea waters while cultivating self-reliance, truth-seeking, and charitable mutual aid.

Core Tenets of Fellowship

  • Inviolable Conscience: Spiritual conviction must be freely chosen, never coerced.
  • Sacred Ecology: The earth, waters, and living creatures are entrusted to our care and reverence.
  • Honest Stewardship: Integrity in word, craft, and shared community responsibility.
  • Peaceful Assembly: Fellowship grounded in hospitality, quiet contemplation, and goodwill.
